In this class we will explore the basic principles of contemporary dance through a set of exercises and finish off with a dance phrase, to encourage and discover the joy of movement.
Suitable for: Beginners or those wanting to return to contemporary dance.
Teacher: Emma Lewis
Emma trained at the Royal Ballet school. She danced professionally in both contemporary and ballet companies across Europe, Switzerland and the U.K. In 2004 she spent six months in India studying and completing a teacher training course in yoga. She has been teaching classical ballet, contemporary, yoga and improvisation for 15 years and is passionate about the benefits they can all have on our mind, body and spirit. Emma teaches regularly to National Dance Company Wales dancers.
What to wear: Comfortable clothing you can move in; make sure any loose trousers do not come below the ankle. Can be done in bare feet or socks (please note trainers are not permitted in the studio). Remember to bring layers to warm up and cool down in.
What to Bring: Water and a yoga mat if you’d like to use your own (some mats will be available for use at the studios).
