What's on

Channel Rose

Channel Rose

Channel Rose: A sensory tonic for the jaded urbanite. Channel Rose is the new production from award winning choreographer Eleesha Drennan. Three extraordinary dancers embark on a physical and poetic escapade in search of utopia. Dancing the fine line between fantasy and realism they unfold the fabric of human motivation. Grappling with the grit of optimism. Haunted by the desire to escape. Channel Rose is filled with bold and sensual physicality. It’s an unforgettable visual feast, evoking the riches of the imagination and fueled by stirring rhythms. The production is performed to an original live score of saxophone and percussion, composed and curated by the acclaimed Mark Bowden, performed by internationally renowned musicians Julian Warburton and Simon Haram. For: anyone who has ever been afraid of the unknown.

Blaze 2014 will mark ten years since we began our annual youth dance gala and we are very excited to once again welcome a selection of fantastic youth dance groups from across South Wales to perform alongside our Associates at the Dance House. This year we welcome back former Blaze performers Bridgend Youth Dance Company, Expressions Associates and Troy Boyz as well as welcoming new faces; Fantasy Feet Dance Academy and Performing Arts Academy Wales. Blaze brings together young dancers from across the region to celebrate their talent and commitment and provides a fantastic opportunity for the next generation to experience performing in a professional dance environment. We hope you can join us for this exciting evening of performance and to celebrate ten years of young talent performing at the Dance House

Spring Tour 2015

Spring Tour 2015

National Dance Company Wales’ return this spring with a new season of inspirational international choreography. Walking Mad, by revered Swedish choreographer Johan Inger is a riveting piece of dance for nine dancers, full of wit and laced with an unsettling edge of madness. Set to the driving, rousing sounds of Ravel’s much loved Bolero, as well as music by minimalist master Arvo Pärt, the work is a riveting piece of choreography that holds its audiences gripped throughout. Alexander Ekman’s Tuplet uses humour and meticulous use of rhythm and timing to create a fun and uplifting experience. The dancers create their own percussive score which combines with an electronic soundscape featuring snippets of jazz, meaning they can show off their versatility while projecting their individual personalities. Stephen Shropshire’s Mythology is a fiercely physical work set to avant-garde jazz and spoken word. The work uses masterful and intricate choreography that pushes the Company dancers to their physical limits. It’s a mesmerising piece that is incredible to watch. Lee Johnston’s beautiful and heart breaking They Seek To Find The Happiness They Seem explores the disconnection that can occur in relationships, set to lighting design by Joe Fletcher. Purlieus, created by the same unique artistic collaboration combines movement with stunning 3D light animation to create an immersive experience for the audience. This promises to be an evening of exciting and eclectic dance, all conveying the skill and versatility of our Company and giving us the chance to share our passion for dance with our audiences. Please join us.
