Dance for Parkinson’s Associate Artists

 

English National Ballet in partnership with National Dance Company Wales will be bringing Dance for Parkinson’s to Cardiff in spring 2015.

English National Ballet and National Dance Company Wales, two of the UK’s leading dance organisations, share a vision towards the power of dance to inspire and enrich the lives of people with Parkinson’s.

 

Associate Musician

We are looking to recruit a Freelance Associate Musician to accompany and co-lead our Dance for Parkinson’s classes in Cardiff utilising a range of musical techniques and drawing on the music from English National Ballet and NDCWales repertoire.

You will have improvisatory skills and good score-reading skills, and be comfortable adapting and arranging music to suit the class. You will co-lead sections of the class, developing vocal and rhythmic ideas and have an interest in, and ideally experience, in working in dance for different groups, including adults, older people, people with dementia, Parkinson’s and disabilities.

Associate Dancer

We are looking to recruit a highly experienced, passionate and committed Associate Dance Artist to join our team and to co-lead our Dance for Parkinson’s classes in Cardiff. Artists will draw on the themes, dance material, concepts and music from English National Ballet’s classical and contemporary repertoire.

You will have significant professional dance teaching experience including delivering dance for different groups such as adults, older people, people with Dementia, Parkinson’s and disabilities. You will be confident in your standard of ballet and contemporary technique, demonstrating a high level of competency, and be able to select appropriate dance material from the repertoire to develop and plan the class content in collaboration with a musician.

Please apply with a cover letter or email stating your interest in the role and how your skills and experience meet the requirements. Attach a current CV and the details of two referees. Applicants will be required to undertake and enhanced DBS and to obtain their own public liability insurance.

Recruitment Process

Shortlisted applicants will need to be available to participate in a practical workshop at National Dance Company Wales, The Dance House on Saturday 28 February, 12.30 – 18.30 and an interview at an allocated time on Sunday 1 March at the same venue.
