summerdance 2013

summerdance at the New Theatre on Saturday 10 August will present a gala celebration of Wales' exceptional young talent. This exciting performance is the product of a partnership between Arts Active, National Dance Company Wales, Rubicon Dance and Welsh National Opera.

The evening will see three exceptional productions, the centrepiece will be a brand new performance, created during that week's intensive dance summer school: the full summerdance 2013 company of 40 young dancers will perform to music by Jak Poore played by young players working with Welsh National Opera. This new work will be complemented by performances from Rubicon Dance's second year full-time students and NuWorx their flagship street dance ensemble.

summerdance is a must see for anyone who loves dance and live music.

The summerdance project offers talented young people the chance to perform challenging new work in a professional environment alongside experienced artists. It's a popular opportunity for young dancers to get noticed and make industry contacts. The project which is a partnership between Cardiff Council's Arts Active team, NDCWales and Welsh National Opera is part of an ongoing initiative for youth dance development in Cardiff.

summerdance, which was first presented at the New Theatre in 1997, is reinvigorated this year with the introduction of Rubicon Dance to the partnership. Together Cardiff's flagship arts organizations offer vital high level training experience and performance opportunities to young people who are committed to trying to make their career in dance.
