Older people get the chance to move with award winning National Dance Company Wales dancers in North Wales as part of Age Cymru’s Gwanwyn Festival

Older people in North Wales will have the chance to move with professional dancers from the award winning National Dance Company Wales in two open workshops for older people aged 50+ in May as part of Age Cymru’s month long Gwanwyn celebrations, and no experience is necessary.

During the month of May, Age Cymru’s annual Gwanwyn Festival celebrates creativity in older age, offering a huge variety of activities for older people across Wales.  National Dance Company Wales are thrilled to be running two open workshops at Venue Cymru, Llandudno and Theatr Clwyd, Mold offering a unique workshop opportunity to those over 50, as part of the Gwanwyn Festival.

National Dance Company Wales’ Artistic Director Caroline Finn said, “We all dance: for pleasure, for fun, on our own, in groups or maybe only when no one else is watching. At National Dance Company Wales we truly believe that dance is for everyone. We believe that dance can empower people and encourage anyone to express themselves with confidence. Movement and dance can provide opportunities for people of all abilities and experience-levels to try something new, have fun while moving and learn new skills.”

The two hour workshops are open to people of any ability and will be led by NDCWales’ friendly and skilled professional company dancers. It includes an easy warm up session, developing and inspiring creativity through tasks based on our touring programme, Folk as well as sharing ideas and exploring the role of audience and performer and finally a question and answering session with the dancers where participants can find out more about dance, the dancers and what the company does.

Spaces are limited for the workshops. You can book in advance now. The Gwanwyn Dance Workshops will be held on:

Wednesday 11th May, 3 – 5pm

Venue Cymru, Llandudno

Workshop tickets are available for £7.

To book, call Venue Cymru on 01492 872000.
