NDCWales appoints new Dance Ambassadors

National Dance Company Wales are pleased to announce the appointment of new Dance Ambassadors located in areas across Wales and England.  The aim of the Dance Ambassadors is to increase participation opportunities and develop new audiences in various locations. Two have been appointed to work at the company’s venue at the Dance House and another four who are supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England to work in areas that will be a priority in developing audiences over the next three years. These areas include Blackpool and Huddersfield, Derby and Shrewsbury.

 

Based in Cardiff, Louise Lloyd and Jack Philip will both be leading adult dance classes at the Dance House, and also working with the company in the community to increase participation work. Louise Lloyd will be teaching the Adult Beginners Ballet and Jack Philip teaching the Adult Beginngers Contemporary class, both held on a Tuesday evening. Sarah Hall and Zanna Dennis from Blue Moose Dance Company have been appointed Dance Ambassadors for Blackpool and Huddersfield area. Both experienced Dance Artists and teachers, they have taken part in many community dance projects and worked with an extensive list of dance companies in the area.

 

Kerryn Wise is a dance artist and educator based in East Midlands and is the new dance ambassador for Derby.  Kerryn has her own choreographic practice and devises and performs her work regionally and nationally.

 

Dance Ambassador for Shrewsbury is Sarah Rogers, based in Cardiff and leader of ‘Ransack Dance Company’, who work with live dance, music and film, and she also produces a yearly emerging dance artists training project and choreography platform called The Arrive Dance Platform.

Louise Lloyd Adult Beginners Ballet

 

Louise graduated from London Contemporary Dance School with a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Contemporary Dance in 2013. Following this she was part of Transitions Post-Graduate Dance company at Laban, during which time she performed in many venues around the UK and Europe, receiving her Masters in Dance Performance with Distinction. Since graduating Louise has worked as a freelance dancer and dance teacher, performing at various festivals and showcasing events as well as choreographing her own work for the Wales Dance Platform 2015. Louise began her journey in community dance on the Paul Hamlyn Funded Professional Placement with Rubicon Dance and Ballet Cymru in 2015 and went on to undertake a 6 month dance leader apprenticeship with Rubicon Dance. Having completed the apprenticeship in May 2016, Louise is currently leading weekly sessions in community dance, BarreConcept, Mundo Dance and adult ballet with participants ranging from 2-80+ years of age.

 

Jack Philip Adult Beginners Contemporary

Jack trained at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and works as a freelance dance artist, choreographer and teacher. He has performed work by choreographers including Matthias Sperling, Anna Williams and Wayne McGregor as well as shadowed different artists and companies, both nationally and internationally, including Henri Oguike, Scottish Dance Theatre, Rafael Bonachela and Sydney Dance Company. Jack teaches class at Rubicon Dance and has also lead workshops for students at Trinity Laban, Kingston University and English National Ballet Youth Co, as well as other youth projects across the UK. Jack has previously been supported by both Arts Council England and Arts Council of Wales for two new works created with his collective, founded in 2014. He has gone on to share choreography at national venues around the UK with a recent commission being made for Monmouthshire Youth Dance Company.

 

Sarah Hall and Zanna Dennis (Blue Moose Dance Company) - Dance Ambassadors for Blackpool and Huddersfield

 

Sarah trained at Middlesex University and the University of Leeds graduating in 2009 gaining Qualified Teachers Status in a Secondary School the following year. Since then, Sarah has embarked on a career crossing community, education and performance sectors. Sarah worked as Dance Development Officer in Blackpool for 5 years, developing grass roots and progression opportunities for young dancers, allowing them to connect with professional companies and develop their creative experiences of dance. Sarah is also a specialist for Lancashire County Council supporting them in high quality creative dance provision in schools and within their annual performance platform. Alongside her Blue Moose work now, Sarah is a part time lecturer on the BA (Hons) Dance Performance and Teaching course at UCLan. Sarahs work centres around as it directly connected to their lives and personalities of those she works with, aiming for her delivery and creative work to be inspired by and true to the individuals involved. Her work is personal, accessible and always the most fun possible!

 

Zanna trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and went onto pursue a Freelance career delivering dancing in a wide variety of community and educational settings, to all ages, for the likes of Phoenix Dance Theatre, Ludus Dance and Culture Warrington. Alongside this, Zanna has also choreographed work for various groups and projects and enjoy creating work inspired by people and places, as well as performing in a number of professional outdoor sited dance works, including the BIG Dance NW Link Up.

 

 

Kerryn Wise Dance Ambassador for Derby

 

Kerryn Wise is a dance artist and educator based in the East Midlands. She has extensive experience teaching and facilitating dance and arts projects, and has worked in a range of community and educational settings, working with all ages and abilities. Kerryn has her own choreographic practice and devises and performs her work regionally and nationally. Kerryn is currently doing an MA in Performance at De Montfort University, Leicester, funded through a Midlands 3 Cities Scholarship, and is also guest lecturing on the Performing Arts BA course.

 

 

Sarah Rogers Dance Ambassador for Shrewsbury

 

Sarah started her dance training at New College Telford and Shropshire Academy of Dance, and then worked with Blue Eyed Sould Dance Company in Shrewbury, before going onto graduate from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with BA Hons in Dance Theatre in 2010. She has performed for Rosemary Butcher, Charles Linehan, Kerry Nicholls, Darren Johnston, Will Dorner, Tamsin Fitzgerald (2Faced Dance), The Configur8 Project, Angelina Jandolo Dance and Kitsch n Sync, and presented work at Resolution 2011 as an independent choreographer. In 2012 Sarah completed an Apprenticeship with Earthfall Dance Company based in Cardiff. Sarah now lives in Cardiff and directs her own professional dance theatre company 'Ransack Dance Company,' who work with live dance, music and film, and she also produces a yearly emerging dance artists training project and choreography platform called The Arrive Dance Platform.

 

Alongside her professional directing and performance work Sarah is a keen community dance practitioner and educator and has directed a number of youth groups. Previously she has been  Education Manager at 2Faced Dance Company, co-coordinating and teaching on the company's community and schools programme and directing the 2Faced Youth Company. Sarah currently teaches for Artis Community leading their boys youth company, and inclusive youth dance groups, alongside teaching an urban based dance programme in partnership with the Forsythia Youth project.
