The award-winning National Dance Company Wales will perform a special Pop Up performance of their new alternative rock dance piece A Mighty Wind in front of hundreds of school children and their families as part of the NEW Dance Denbighshire Schools Platform events at Rhyl Pavilion on 25 November and Llangollen Pavilion on 3 December.

National Dance Company Wales performs dance pieces by some of the most celebrated international choreographers alongside creations by new  talent. The Company tours to theatres across Wales, the UK and internationally and also creates one-off projects and programmes in Wales that give local people the chance to dance themselves.

National Dance Company Wales have been invited by NEW Dance to perform at the annual Denbighshire Dance performances  where local primary schools from across North Wales will be performing their own group dance pieces in front of friends and families.

National Dance Company Wales’s Chief Executive, Paul Kaynes said, “We are really thrilled to be a part of this annual event which celebrates the enthusiasm and hard work of the children, the schools and their families involved in creating their dance pieces.

NEW Dance are committed to developing dance in Denbighshire with young people and we want to support the organisation by working with them to help increase young people’s and their families’ interest in dance. Dance can engage with so many people and we hope that NDCWales’s  performance will inspire some of the young people to go on to develop their interest in dance and the arts.”

Over the last 8 weeks, community dance organisation NEW Dance have worked with 14 primary schools across Denbighshire developing their interest and understanding of dance and movement.

The Pop Up will see the entire dance company perform highlights from A Mighty Wind a high energy, vibrant piece that captures the intensity of nature’s elements during a storm, set against the power generated by an alternative rock music concert.

NDCWales will be touring the full A Mighty Wind piece as part of their tour to North Wales which will be coming to Venue Cymru, Llandudno on 12 February and to Theatr Clwyd, Mold on 13 & 14 May.

National Dance Company Wales will also be performing another Pop Up performance in January 2016 as part of Venue Cymru’s Take pART weekend. NDCWales will be performing a Pop Up version of another piece in their repertoire, Tuplet, and they are also organising a mass participation event at Venue Cymru’s Take pART event, Come Dance, where anybody and everybody can drop into the session and dance with the professional dancers.
