This Autumn, National Dance Company Wales will be touring its autumn repertoire to venues across Wales and the UK and leading up to the performances they are asking locals from each of the towns and cities they are visiting to suggest a special local place to see this vibrant young company do a special pop up appearance.

#mydanceplace is an opportunity for people from across Newcastle, Poole, Cardiff, Hereford, Newtown, Doncaster and Brecon to suggest a local place for National Dance Company Wales to perform a special pop up appearance and show the energy and accessibility of NDCWales’ autumn tour. NDCWales will perform a piece from Alexander Ekman’s Tuplet, which is a witty, full of energy and fun and sees the dancers create a powerful soundtrack using  part of their bodies performed alongside familiar jazz sounds such as Fly Me to the Moon.

Rehearsal Director, Lee Johnston said; “Last year we performed on the iconic steps of Aberystwyth University ahead of the performance at Aberystwyth Arts Centre. The pop-up performance went viral and showed that dance and theatre is

not bound by four walls and that we all love to dance, inside, outside, whatever the weather! Tell us your iconic places and we will aim to perform there.”

Short videos of #mydanceplace have already been captured in Aberystwyth and Cardiff and are available online.
NDCWales are now asking for suggestions ahead of their autumn tour which opens in Newcastle (3-4 October) and then visits Poole (6 October); Hereford (13 &14 October); Newtown (22 &23 October); Cardiff (27 &28 October, 16-18 November); Doncaster ( 4 & 5 November) and Brecon (20 &21 November). NDCWales want audiences to share what their favourite spaces are. These could be iconic spaces, monuments, buildings, parks, leisure areas, stadium or even random places which are special to them.

The best suggestions will be chosen and will be performed in that suggested #mydanceplace before the company visit their local theatre. The chosen #mydanceplace winner will also win tickets to see National Dance Company Wales at their local venue.

To enter, take a picture or post your named suggestion through to Facebook and Twitter @NDCWales and use the hashtag #mydanceplace followed by a # of your city.
