Dance House Residency

National Dance Company Wales is delighted to offer a Wales-based independent artist the opportunity of a week long residency at our home in Cardiff from 2 to 6 November 2015.

The Residency is open to professional dance artists and choreographers and will offer the unique opportunity to work for up to 8 hours a day for one week in one of our beautiful space and well-equipped studios at the Dance House.

A choreographer may bring up to 4 dancers to work with during this period.

Residencies under this programme are not required to involve production outcomes and can be for the development of a new work; to develop some aspect or idea within the resident’s practice; or to undertake choreographic research.

Our week long residency will give you:

-free use of studio space

-the opportunity to discuss and share the development of your work

-the chance to engage with the Dance House and NDCWales for advice and support. (e.g public relations, budget advice...)

Resident artists will be asked to deliver some or all of the following:

-open discussion/creative sessions for other artists

-A sharing of the work in progress at the end of the week

To apply, please submit the following in no more than 500 words for each:

-A proposition of what you intend to work on during your residency at the Dance House.

- What your objectives/aims are for this residency and what you hope to gain from the opportunity.

Please include your CV, a link to previous works or works in progress which are relevant to the residency proposal and/ or the name and contact details of a referee.

Please submit all applications to megan@ndcwales.co.uk by Friday 18th September.

All residencies are subject to negotiation between National Dance Company Wales' management and the artist.

We look forward to receiving your applications and hopefully to welcoming you in the Dance House in November.
